DRUGSTORE SKINCARE ALTERNATIVES #1: CLEANSE

Hello Everyone! So earlier in the month i did a couple of different makeup dupes posts (which you can catch here Affordable Dupes #1 and here Affordable Dupes #2) and a lot of people found/find these types of posts super useful. With that in mind for today's post i thought i would share with you some great drugstore alternatives/dupes for higher end skincare products, because lets face it sometimes spending over £60 for a moisturizer is neither good for both your bank balance or making any type of difference/improvement to your skin. Just like the makeup items i thought i would divide this post into two parts, kicking things off with cleansing products...

MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER -
When it comes to removing my makeup before using a facial wash, i always opt for either a micellar water or a facial wipe (sometimes even both). The reason for that being it is that it is super quick/easy and effortless to do, but i have been a sucker for splurging on one or two versions like the one from Bioderma or Lancôme that aren't as effective as some alternative versions. Out of all of the drugstore versions i have tried, these three are hands down my favourite (especially the garnier one, i have gone through around 248430583 bottles of this stuff ha).

FACIAL WIPES -
You would think initially that all facial wipes do the same thing, but they don't all work in the same way. I have purchased the Estée Lauder and MAC facial wipes in the past, both disappointing me unlike some of the super affordable brands on the market. When purchasing facial wipes i always tend to choose which ever of these three are on promotion at the time, as i like them all equally as much but the only downside to the Neautrogena one's is they dry out before you have time to finish them. Talking of facial wipes drying out, i heard that the Olay Daily Facial Cleansing cloths are amazing and as you have to apply water to the cloth to activate it, they won't dry out. I plan on putting these to the test at some point, so i will report back!

FACE CLEANSING OILS -
If you are a huge fan of the Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing oil but hate spending the £22 every time like i do, then these three drugstore beauty's are perfect for achieving the same finish for a lot less. My top favourite out of the three has to be the Extraordinary Oil by L'Oreal, it is such a luxurious feeling product with a drugstore price tag. Another affordable alternative i love but isn't drugstore is the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil by The Body Shop, which retails for just £10 a bottle. Going in with a cleansing oil once you have removed the top layer of your makeup with either a micellar water or a wipe, is great as the oil inside of the product really helps to break down any left over makeup that has stuck around still.

"CLAY" FACE MASKS -
When it comes down to choosing a face mask, i like to use ones designed for specific targeting of an area or how/what my skin needs at that time. Favourite higher end masks of mine are the Kiehl's Rare Earth Mask and the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask. Majority of the time i like to use a detoxifying mask to really help draw out all the impurities, such as blemishes and blackheads. I am such a sucker for a heat activating face mask, i just find them so soothing/calming and the ones from Sanctuary Spa and No7 are my go-to's. For just a normal clay/detox mask i like to opt for the one from L'Oreal, which i apply to my prone breakout areas before going in with the glow mask also from L'Oreal on the rest of my face. Another affordable/drugstore brand that is great for targeting other areas when it comes to a face mask is Nip+Fab, which i will get into during part two.

All of the pricing from this post is based on selected boots stores/online.
(excluding the superdrug vitamin e cleansing oil)
