BOOK REVIEW: GENTLEMAN SINNER BY JODI ELLEN MALPAS

Hello everyone! So for today's post i wanted to do something a little different to what i normal would, when it comes to talking anything and everything about books. Usually i would just talk about a bunch of different books that i want to read or what i have recently read and only give you a brief review on my thoughts. With that in mind, i really wanted to switch things up and be able to go into more detail about my current reads and of course i have to kick things off with my most recent read by one of my favourite author's...

 SYNOPSIS:
Izzy White knows of the darkness in this world. After all, she escaped it long ago. Determined not to let her past beat her, Izzy has a secure, stable life with a job she loves in nursing. But one act of kindness will completely upend everything she's so carefully built-putting her right back in the crosshairs of danger she's been so desperate to avoid. When Theo Kane shows up like a knight in shining armor, Izzy can't help thinking she's been saved from one threat and exposed to another. His imposing physique, the harsh lines of his face, and the wariness of everyone who comes close are just a few clues to Theo Kane's notorious reputation. The man is positively terrifying. But with Izzy, he's tender and a complete gentleman, and her fascination with the mysterious beast of a man becomes too powerful for her to walk away. As Theo's demons come to light, running becomes even more impossible. And yet staying together could doom them both.

MY REVIEW:
As i have mentioned on several occasions and in numerous posts, Jodi Ellen Malpas is hands down my favourite author and i am beyond excited whenever she announces something new. When she releases a new book you know you are going get something that sucks you in from the very first page, with a red hot romance and a gripping story line which has darkness to it and the Gentleman Sinner was just that and more. First of all i just have to mention how when you think you have a favourite male character created by Jodi nailed, she only goes and introduces everyone to a brand new one that throws you off, Theo Kane doing just that!

So the book is obviously from Izzy's perspective and it kicks off straight in at the deep end, with her finishing a shift at the hospital she works in as a nurse. As she is walking home from work she hears a woman in distress, Izzy only has a tiny moment of hesitation where she should keep walking but then her nursing instinct kicks in just like that and she is straight down a dark alley to come to the woman's aid. Little did she know this would lead to landing right in the lap of a mysterious man who she would immediately drop her guard for and let straight into her heart, considering Izzy also has a dark history which is full of secrets.

Through-out the first few chapters of the book you kind of know pretty much what Izzy's past is, just by putting the pieces together yourself with things that are said and triggers of hers but obviously it takes you a little longer to figure out what Theo's secrets and reasons for being the way he is. I felt like Theo was fairly different to a lot of the other male characters as he obviously like the majority has a dark past and is also dominating/controlling and very protective but i also feel like with Izzy he was so different and a complete 180 to how he was with everyone else in his life, including his family but obviously when you finally discover the reason his being the way he has been for all those years you really feel his pain.

Even though the book ended with a epilogue from Theo's point of view in the future, i am really hoping this isn't the last we see of these characters. I also would love, love, love something focused on Jess (Izzy's best friend) and Callum (Theo's friend/driver/bodyguard) as their chemistry through-out the book was amazing and hilarious, even though during the epilogue we discovered they still hadn't got it on...i still have hope they will.

Overall i give this book a 4.5 out of 5, the .5 is just because i didn't want the book to end. That being said even though i am currently suffering from a book boyfriend hangover, all will be forgiven on Thursday as Jodi's book The Protector is being released on Passionflix in movie form and words can't describe how excited i am!

MY EVERYDAY NUDE LIP COMBINATION

Hello everyone! So over the past few weeks i have been obsessed with my current everyday lip combination, so much so i have worn it everyday. Seeing as it has been a hot minute since i last shared a current favourite nude lip combination, i thought for today's post it would be the perfect opportunity to give you a little update...

mac cosmetics lip pencil in the shade stripdown | click to shop |
For me when it comes to lip liners i always tend to favour MAC liners, as they are so fool proof and you know they are never going to let you down. They are a really easy to apply as the formula is perfect, as some lip liners can be too creamy and some can be too dry and this is the perfect in-between. My go-to shade everyday through-out the winter months has been Stripdown, as it is a slightly darker more brown/beige nude shade.

charlotte tilbury hot lips lipstick in the shade KKW | click to shop |
So for lipstick i have been reaching for one of my all time favourites from Charlotte Tilbury, which of course is the famous KKW. KKW for me is my perfect kind of nude, as it is light, creamy and has that beautiful pink/beige tone to it. I like to apply it on top of the Stripdown liner before blending the two together slightly with my finger, by doing this it creates the most beautiful beige nude lip look.

revolution jewel collection lip topper in the shade luxurious | click to shop |
Finally to finish the look off is something that i have been loving ever since i picked it up a couple of weeks ago, which is this gorgeous lip topper by Revolution. What i love about lip toppers is they add that slight shine to your lips without leaving them feeling sticky and they can be worn either alone or on top of your lipstick of choice, as i do. I have the shade Luxurious, which is this beautiful sheer pink with gold glitter and it pairs so well with the lip liner/lipstick base underneath. I have also been reaching for a jelly highlighter from the same jewel collection and that is equally as stunning, especially for such an affordable brand.

VALENTINES DAY TREATS: QUICK + EASY

Hello everyone! With Valentine's Day fast approaching in just six days, i thought this would be the perfect way to share some quick and easy treat ideas for the themed holiday. For me when it comes to Valentine's day i straight away think of all things pink and red themed, as well as anything yummy and chocolatey. Creating something yourself doesn't have to require a lot of time/skill, as there are so many simple recipes and packaged up nicely can make the perfect gift for someone special (or simply to be eaten yourself of course)...

1. heart shaped cookies ( simple sugar cookie recipe )
Baking cookies doesn't have to be difficult, especially if you follow a simple sugar cookie recipe. You can create sugar cookies for pretty much any season/holiday, simply by switching up the cutter/style of topping you are using. For example for Valentine's opt for a heart shaped cutter to shape the cookie and use pink/red/white frosting/icing or sprinkles.

2. chocolate covered oreo's
Probably one of the quickest and coolest ideas for creating a Valentine's treat is simply by covering/dipping some Oreo's with melted Chocolate or Candy Melts, then finishing off with toppings of your choosing. Some of the perfect toppings for decorating the Oreo's with are pink or red coloured Sprinkles, M&M's, Love Hearts and you could even incorporate a lolly stick into the centre of the cookie to create an Oreo Cake Pop.

3. covered strawberries
Another idea similar to covered Oreo's is of course the classic Strawberries covered in Chocolate, that being said you don't just have to opt for a classic Milk Chocolate look. A great way to achieve that perfect Valentine's theme is to dip the strawberries in either Pink Candy Melts or White Chocolate that has had a small amount of Pink Food Colouring to it. Just like any other treat you can decorate as you wish with selection of different toppings, edible Glitter looks stunning on the Strawberries as do little white sprinkles.

4. valentine's movie night popcorn
I would be happy with this treat on any movie night not just for Valentine's, as who doesn't love popcorn and a movie? A way to give your regular cinema sweet popcorn a makeover is to simple incorporate some Valentine's themed sweets or chocolates to the popcorn mixed in a bowl. A personal favourite of mine is either M&M's or Malteasers. If you are making your own popcorn from scratch, you could also add a little food colouring to make the popcorn Pink.

5. valentine's themed bark
Another great no-bake dessert idea which can be decorated differently all depending on the holiday or occasion is of course bark or rocky road, which the only baking that is required is to simply melt some chocolate. If you do want to get a little more adventurous you could create a Valentine's Day appropriate Red Velvet bark, by following this recipe here or many more that are featured on Pinterest.

6. rice krispie valentine's hearts
If you are a sucker for a Rice Krispie treat or you know someone else that is, then this is going to be the perfect no bake Valentine's treat and another one that is so easy to do. All you need to do is follow a simple Rice Krispie treats recipe using melted marshmallow, cut out into heart shapes with a heart shaped cutter and either leave them plain, add some food colouring to the mixture or top with coloured icing/chocolate to decorate.

FEBRUARY MUST-BUYS | CLOTHING, BEAUTY + BOOKS

Hello everyone! First of all how is it February already? and second of all how cold is it in the UK right now? Towards the end of January i picked up a few new winter wardrobe essentials, along with a few other sneaky purchases. With that in mind i thought today's post would be the perfect opportunity to share with you a selection my must-buys for February, from clothing to beauty and even books...

1. inthestyle billie faiers black polka dot tshirt | click to buy |
First up is one of my favourite pieces i picked up from In The Style recently, i know it doesn't look the warmest of clothing items but would be warmer styled with a jacket or chunky knit cardigan during the winter. This particular piece also comes in a white with black polka dots, as well as a bodysuit version, which i also have my eye on.

2. gentleman sinner by jodi ellen malpas | click to pre-order |
Next up is a book and one that i simply can't wait to get my hands on and binge-read, because i already know i am going to love this book as Jodi is my favourite author and i have never not loved one of her books. I am also looking forward to Jodi's book The Protector being released in movie form on Passionflix at the end of this month!

3. inthestyle sarah ashcroft nude colour block jumper | click to buy |
Another piece from my recent In The Style order is from the new Sarah Ashcroft range and definitely one of my favourites from the new collection, which has so many great pieces this time around. I love how cosy and comfortable this jumper is. I also picked up a cropped neon colour jumper, which for a neutrals girl is out of my comfort zone yet i am loving it.

4. mua pro base primer oil | click to buy |
A couple of skincare/makeup items that i have been loving using the past few weeks which are from MUA's pro base range, which are super affordable yet amazing quality. I love using facial oil's for hydrating the skin before applying my makeup, as i just feel like my makeup applies/lasts so much better when i do and i was so surprised at how good this particular one was as it was just £4! You can pick this primer oil up in a couple of different versions, including one with gold infused within the product.

5. adidas originals trefoil tshirt | click to buy |
Back to clothing and this past month i have picked up a selection of pieces from Adidas, as i have been loving wearing the pieces on more casual days. This particular t-shirt is one of my favourites from what i picked up, along with the long sleeve three stripe tshirt in the most beautiful rose/pink shade.

6. mua pro base moisturising primer | click to buy |
Finally another skincare/makeup item from MUA that i have been enjoying reaching for recently is this moisturising primer, if you are a fan of super light weight moisturisers/primers that do the job yet sink into the skin quickly then i would highly recommend giving this one a try, for just £4 also you can't really go wrong.

BEAUTY FAVOURITES | FEBRUARY

Hello everyone and welcome to the final post for the month of February! In my previous post i talked all about my more lifestyle favourites from the month, so i thought for today's instalment i would share the beauty products i have been loving this month. It is true what they say that even though February is only a few days shorter, it does make all the difference therefor i don't have a huge amount of new products to chat about...

The first one is actually a fairly boring one, as it is just face wipes but that being said i finally tried a different type of face wipe other than the Nivea exfoliating wipes. The reason for this being is i was totally out of my stash, so i picked these up in Tesco as they don't stock the Nivea ones. I actually didn't expect to like them but i really do, i have tried a different pack from Johnson's before but these are so much better because they remove all service makeup quickly and leaves your skin feeling super hydrated. I always like to use a makeup wipe, before going in with my cleanser.

So i actually first tried this eyeshadow palette out a couple of months ago, as i got it as a gift for Christmas after lusting over it for a while because let's face it the shades in this palette are me. That being said i haven't been reaching for eyeshadow all that often, especially day to day as i will usually just use some bronzer for quick. On the days/night that i did make more of an effort though, i have been reaching and loving using this palette. The shadows are pigmented, easy to blend and apply evenly which is why i always recommend Zoeva palettes to people and they aren't going to break the bank either.

I actually first mentioned this mascara that i have been reaching for a lot recently in my quick, easy + affordable weekend no makeup, makeup look post and in that post i mentioned how much of a creature of habit i am when it comes to mascara, yet this one completely took me by surprise. I love so many products from MUA but i have never tried their mascara's and seeing as it was only £3, i didn't expect anything from it but it does everything to my lashes, lengthens, leaves a voluminous finish and doesn't apply clumpy or transfer.

morphe liquid lipstick in the shade sweets
Finally we have my favourite lip combination of the month and is one i have pretty much been wearing non stop. I actually mentioned how much i loved the way Spice lip liner looks paired with a lot of different nude lip products applied on top but especially the Nip+Fab liquid lipstick in the shade Biscuit, in my recent go-to brown/nude lip liners post. This combination is just the perfect warm/brown-beige nude lip with a matte finish. That being said if i am feeling something slightly more pinkish-toned nude then i will go in with Sweets liquid lipstick from Morphe, which was from their holiday collection.

See you in March (Spring is finally on its way yay)!!!

WAYS TO SWITCH UP YOUR EVERYDAY MAKEUP ROUTINE

Hello everyone! We all have those moments when we get stunk in a rut, especially when it comes to our everyday makeup routine and we tend to just keep doing the same thing over and over again. That being said applying makeup should always be fun and never seem as if it is a chore, keeping that in mind for today's post i thought i would share with you some great ways to switch up your everyday makeup routine...

1. look through all the products in your makeup collection
It is super easy to just reach for your most recently purchased makeup items, but then all of your other products get pushed aside and forgotten about. By looking through your collection once in a while will make you see what other products you used to love reaching for, to encourage you to reach for them again.

2. have a makeup de-clutter
That being said sometimes you can get into a makeup rut because you are slightly overwhelmed with the amount of products in your collection, when that occurs it is always good to have a good makeup de-clutter and rid yourself of any products you dislike or don't want to hang onto anymore.

3. dedicate a drawer or makeup make to your everyday essentials
Something i did a lot and still often do, is to dedicate a drawer from my acrylic storage to some everyday essentials of mine and to avoid getting into that rut again switch the products up/around each month. This is also a great way to save time searching through your collection/makeup bag, especially if you are in a hurry!

4. try out some new-in makeup products
It is so easy to just say oh this is my favourite product i am not going to bother trying out anything new, but this is in fact when you get fed up of something. Be adventurous and try something from the new-in section, you never know something could become your new go-to everyday makeup item.

5. switch up the order of application if something isn't working right
Doing your makeup every single day the same way as if you are on auto-pilot can get super boring quick, even if every single product you are using is still working well for you there is still a simple step to help switch things up. Simply switch up the order in which you apply your makeup, even if it is just one or two steps.

6. upgrade your tools/appliances
Sometimes switching up your makeup products isn't always necessary, something simple like switching up or upgrading your tools and appliances can do just the trick. Treat yourself to a new well lit makeup mirror, some new brushes or new storage. Having great lighting makes such a huge difference to the way your makeup ends up looking and makeup storage is a great way to stay organised (clear view, clear mind).

7. wear what makes you feel happy/confident
It is easy to follow someone else/or a trend and say you love something just because they do, which in fact that certain product/look doesn't work well for you. Makeup should always be fun and you should always wear your makeup the way you like to wear it, what type of look makes you feel happy and confident in yourself.

8. skip non-essential products if you are pinched for time
In an everyday makeup routine it can either go one of two ways, stick to the bare essentials or go all out and reach for everything and put it on your face. That being said if you are in a rush and pinched for time, skip the non-essential steps such as winged eyeliner or a technical eyeshadow look which isn't necessary all of the time. Also if you are anything like me and still when it comes to winged eyeliner, it probably takes me ten minutes per eye as i still struggle with getting them even looking often!

9. nail your skincare routine
The way your everyday makeup looks can be improved a huge amount, simply by making sure you nail your skincare routine/application. Making sure your skin is super hydrated and prepped for makeup, will make your makeup look and last a lot better as it has the perfect base for everything to be applied on top of it. Even adding an extra face mask into an evening a week, will make all the difference.

10. turn your everyday makeup from simple to glam in seconds
Maybe you are headed straight from work or school to something a little more dressy. A couple of great quick and easy fixes for transforming your makeup look from simple to glam in seconds, are to apply a little more highlighter to the areas you usually would and also to glam a simple face of makeup up, add a bolder lip choice like a red for example.

11. be comfortable when applying your makeup
One of the most important things for me when doing my makeup everyday is to make sure i am sitting down comfortably, i like to sit on my chair at my dressing table and either watch TV or listen to music by doing this it makes it a lot more enjoyable than being sat in silence. We have also all been there before, when you sit on the floor then realise you can't get up because your feet/legs have gone to sleep.

12. experiment with products in your collection
Finally is a step that will inject some fun back into your makeup routine and that is to experiment with the products in your collection. Something as simple as mixing two or three lipsticks together to create the perfect shade, especially when you dislike a product by itself but mixed with another product it could work well.

BROW-DATE | UPDATED BROW ROUTINE 2018

Hello everyone! So it has been a post i haven't really done an updated version of for a while now, as nothing in my routine had really changed until a couple of months ago/recently because i am super fussy when it comes to my brows. But seeing as i finally switched some of the things i am using on my brows up, i thought why not share with you the products i am loving at the moment.

So every single day whilst i am doing my skincare routine, i always apply some of this brow conditioning primer by Benefit and i have been loving/using it for a couple of years now. This product i great to not only prep and allow brow products to last longer, but also as it is infused with keratin which helps your brows grow to be thicker and fuller over time. This product also comes in a mini/travel size now, which is great for sampling before investing in the full size (click to shop mini here).

If you read my recent testing primark beauty #2 post, then you will know that this was actually my favourite item from the pile of products i tried. I was super shocked at how much i love about this brow pencil from its easy to work with formula (both pencil and powder applicator), how perfect the shade tobacco is for my brows, the super handy spoolie and of course the fact that it is only £2 is simply mind blowing to me. Ever since picking this pencil up i have barely reached for anything different, that being said i don't think i will fully be giving up on my other well loved brow product coming next...

This product is one that has featured in every single one of my brow routine posts and is one that i have loved for so long now, as it is simply that good! So much so i feel as if it is the product that made me fussy when it comes to brow products now and i always refer to it as the bulletproof brow product. You might think that £19 for such a small product is a little steep, but a very tiny amount goes a very long way and lasts all day long through wind, rain, sun, sweat and snow.

Whenever i reach for the ABH dipbrow, i always reach for the Y23 pro angle brush by Morphe to fill in brows as i love how precise you can be with application but the bristles on the brush aren't overly stiff. The angle of the brush is also perfect for creating that really nice arch to the brows, as well as filling in and picking up product evenly. I also always use the Y21 flat definer brush by Morphe to clean up/conceal the brows if needed or if i just want them to be super defined.

Finally, finally, finally after so many years i finally found a brow gel that i love equally as much if not more than the L'Oréal brow artist plumper, which is the pro longwear waterproof brow set gel in the shade brown/ebony by MAC. What i love so much about this product is how small the wand/brush is, as it allows you to be more precise when it comes to setting your brows into place. This particular shade is the perfect colour for my brows, as it is dark by not warm toned as some brown shades tend to add a reddish tint to my brows.

MY FEBRUARY MUST-BUYS | CLOTHING, ACCESSORIES + BEAUTY

Hello everyone! So last month i shared a different style of post to my blog, sharing my must-buys for the month of January. This post included some of the items i had recently picked up or some of the items that i wanted to pick up during the month. With that in mind and seeing as it is now February i thought i would share this months must-buy items, from clothing to accessories, tech items and of course beauty...

I have seen quite a few different "suedette" style biker jackets including a khaki coloured one which would definitely break the bank, that being said boohoo has a similar style jacket for a lot less and it comes in a few different colours. I love this neutral coloured one, as well as the black one!

There is only one thing better or equally as good as Christmas products from Lush and that is Valentine's day, Prince Charming has been my favourite shower gel for years but i believe they have stopped stocking it now. Even though this has happened there is a bunch of amazing smelling products including one of my favourite bath bombs at the moment!

3. | skinnydip dalmatian card holder | was £8 now £5 |
Ever since getting my new purse, which i shared in last months must-buys i have been struggling for room for all of my cards so i decided i definitely needed to pick a card holder up. I fell in love with how cute/classic this one from Skinnydip was and it is so in-expensive.

I have been lusting after these trainers in this icey pink shade for so long, that it just got ridiculous that i didn't buy myself a pair already. I have recently really got back into wearing trainers more, they are just so comfy and look great with so many different outfits!

5. | h&m beauty warm desert blush | £8.99 |
I have heard so many different things about H&M makeup, that i really want to give some things a try. I love how a lot of the packaging is giving me Tom Ford makeup vibes but for a lot less money, especially this blush shade which really has my attention.

I recently broke my current sunglasses which i loved but i wasn't all that mad, because they weren't every expensive. So i decided to go on the hunt for a new pair and fell in love with this surprisingly cheap for net-a-porter and they are my favourite style and tortoiseshell print.

So i have recently started to read this book which i mentioned in my recent "books i want to read in 2018" post and oh my oh my, i am equally as hooked/obsessed as i was when i read Gabriel's Inferno by the same author. Definitely a must-read book this month!

8. | lancome custom highlight drops | £26 |
I am completely obsessed with liquid highlighters, so naturally when i laid eyes on this new launch from Lancome of course i was going to want to get my hands on some. There is four different shades available but my favourite by far is the shade called golden glow.

9. | prettylittlething black oversized knitted jumper | £25 |
Everyone needs that basis black knit in their wardrobe and mine is in need of being replaced, more specifically with a more thick knit and this one from PLT is perfect for that. I love jumpers from the brand as they are such great quality, wash nice and aren't expensive!

10. | skinnydip pretty cute iPhone phone case | £6 |
I recently picked up a new phone case from my favourite place to get them from and that is of course Skinnydip, because of how many cools prints they have. I actually had my eye on this "pretty fucking cute" one for a while now, so seeing as it was in the sale i couldn't resist!

11. | yankee candle rainbow cookie candle | from £1.71 |
Finally i am completely obsessed with the new scents launched on Yankee Candle, especially this rainbow cookie scent. This scent is two of the types of scents i love together both sweet and fresh, as it is infused with soft vanilla, citrus and peach. The packaging colour/design also!

Hey guys, i hope you are all having an amazing day whatever you are up to! If you have never heard of Fifty Shades of Grey before a) where have you been? and b) you need to read the books! I have been a huge fan of the books since they were first released a couple of years ago and i am so excited to go and see the movie in a couple of weeks. In celebration of the movies release there is a few different companies that have launched "merchandise" to go along with the movie and O.P.I is one of them. I have always been a huge fan of O.P.I polishes as they are amazing quality, so i naturally had to get my hands on this collection...

The collection comes with 6 different shades of nail polish, which are:

My Silk Tie, Dark Side of the Mood, Romantically Involved, Embrace the Gray, Shine for Me and Cement the Deal...

The mini collection retails for £19.95 and you can get them from BeautyBay, Debenhams, O.P.I and John Lewis in the UK.

GOODBYE FEBRUARY, HELLO MARCH

Saying that February is the shortest month of the year, it has actually felt like one of the longest. So March is finally here and we can start to say goodbye to winter and hello to spring time, pastel colours and hopefully some warmer weather. Here is some of my favourite things from the month of February...

Cream eyeshadows have been a real go to for me this month as they are great as a base for your regular eyeshadows or worn on itself. My two personal favourites are:
New CID Cosmetics i-colour long wear cream eyeshadow in the shade Romance.
Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr cream eyeshadow in the shade Permanent Taupe.

This month i had been wanting to try out a new foundation and had heard good reviews about the Revlon Colorstay foundation, so i gave it a try. I love this foundation it has a great finish to it and the lasting power is so good, i am not sure about 24hours though because i never have makeup on for that long but it definitely lasts all day long. At the end of last month the lovely Tanya Burr launched her range of lip glosses and nail polishes, so of course i had to make a purchase there. The quality of her products are amazing, i definitely recommend taking a look at her range.
Revlon Colorstay 24HR Foundation in the shade Ivory.
Tanya Burr Lipgloss in the shade Afternoon Tea.

At the end of last month i switched up my shampoo and condition as i thought my hair was feeling a little dry and lacking moisture. So i decided to give Aussie a try, i have never used any of their products before and i am so glad that i have now. I have seen the biggest change in my hairs condition just after the first use, it has made my hair super soft and in really good condition.
Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo.
Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner.

This month i have re-discovered The Body Shop and fell in love with a lot of their products all over again and also tried out quiet a few new things to me.
The Body Shop Moringa Body Milk.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser.

This month i have been listening to these two songs non stop, i just can't get enough of them.
Na Na - Trey Songz
Letter To My Ex - Pleasure P

Also i have been loving Marcus Cooper aka Pleasure P's new mixtape "Break Up to Make Up".
It has only been back for one episode after a mid-season break on the last day of the month, but Grey's Anatomy is one of favourite TV shows ever, such an amazing show!

So that is the end of my "February Favourites" what things have you been loving this month?
Hope you all have a great month of March and i will be back very soon...
